And now my eyes have swelled up. I have to resort to going out in public with shades cuz i look that horrible. Oh yes, plus when i called the doctor, he said it was ok that it should clear up within 2 to 3 days.
Did i mention he was on leave?? YEAH. Lazy people. Apparently this holiday is for EVERYONE. So not only are the shops closed but so are all the schools, doctors, blah BLAH BLAH. LAZY LAZY LAZY LAZY.
I feel like punching someone in the face right now.
Guess who!

I woke up today feeling like crap. I think i might have had a fever last night cuz i was shivering from the cold at one point and then sweating from the heat. Well, the important thing is that i feel better right now thanks to strepsils and panadol. Then as i was using the computer my landlady came in and said some stuff i didn't understand AT ALL. Something about a heater and washing laundry?? And she said something abt being cold or who knows what. So i was like mhmm yeah, yeah ok when i didn't even understand a word she said.
Well, i feel exhuasted. And i'm starting to hate onions. I chopped some onions and the smell is still on my fingers.. Yuck. Oh yes, i'm trying to change my internet connection thingy. The key sucks and i can hardly watch anything online. URGH. I miss home :(
So today i went walking around cuz as usual, its boring at home when i saw the most delicious kebab store... But the damn thing costs 15 euros!! Since i din want to malu myself, i decided to order fries instead. My first meal for the day! Delicious! Its been a long time since i ate some good fries.
Alright, now its time to tell the story of my first clubbing experience in france. Apparently everyone loves to smoke, club and drink. My classmates decided to have a small get together but only 5 of us showed up. It was me(Singaporean), Therese(Swedish), maria emilia(Equatorienne), Nathan(Canadian) & Chia jeng(Taiwanese). Plus they were all party people. We went to the pub called Migrane and drank some beer before heading off to try and find a club. So we walked around old lyon looking for one when I ran into the most number of drunk people i've ever seen in my life. There was this girl who was so drunk she couldn't even stand and her boyfriend had to support her as she kept falling over. Plus her skirt was so short and she wore a thong. As you can imagine, the whole bunch of us saw A LOT of her. Too much. Luckily she was quite pretty so it was a treat for nathan... HAHA!! ok moving on.
Outside a liquor store
The cobblestone street of HELL. My feet are still hurting.
We finally found a club where it was underground and it was really really crowded. They were playing a mix of french and english songs. The club was so crowded that whenever someone wanted to walk past us we had to pause then continue dancing.
While taking a photo this guy pops up
After the club we were approached by a bunch of guys inviting us to a Halloween party that was gonna happen on a thursday which i shall not go cuz of my horrible throat... And guess what?? My friend got asked for her no.!! Haha, chia jeng took many many photos of their little encounter.
So while walking around trying to get back home, being a little drunk/high, chia jeng decides to hop onto a boat and dances with the owner.
Her romantic slow dance
Nathan decides to be a fixture on the wall
Therese likes canal water
Hanging out
As you can see.. D-R-U-N-K
While walking back.. an amazing view!
While we were sitting around outside chia jeng's apartment, nathan decides he's hungry for marijuana.. So he keeps approaching several people on the street for it and those people don't exactly look like your average neighbors. Some of them even looked menacing and were shouting something in french which i guess was quite rude cuz some of the people's faces on the street looked shocked. We tried to warn him to not go round asking every tom, dick or harry cuz honestly, it was pretty dangerous. After a while he finally conceded defeat and left the subject alone... When were finally done, it was abt 6am so i went back home and took a WARM bath and fell asleep. Ahh!!
Night :)
The vacation is coming
Friday, October 23, 2009, 2:20 AM
Oh dear, I have my 1 week vacation coming up soon and i don't what to do but to hole myself up in the house and rot. Btw, i told my friend i would rot to death n she didn't understand me so the joke was lost when i was trying to describe what was rot. In the end i gave up and said i would die within the week, she then asked me why. That's when i stopped making jokes around her.
So today i went to ikea with my friend chia jeng and we found a gold mine!! At least for fat/pregnant people... There was this store called Kiabi where they sold clothes at a MUCH cheaper price than the stores.. I think i might buy something there next time :D And then we went to ikea to shop for her stuff. When we were done which was abt 6+, the stupid weather had to rain! We walked towards the tramway really quickly trying to avoid the rain. Thank goodness the tram came quickly...
Today i managed to cook the most delicious spaghetti carbonara!! I'm a genius!! The onions were the main ingredients and just add some ham and sausages and voila! A delicious dish is born! While chopping the onions i started to cry.. The smell was so damn strong that my eyes started to water immediately! Deliciously strong! Any good asian dish needs onions and chili don't you agree?
Oh and Baguettes cannot be kept for more than 3 days or it will harden. OH YES!! Never put baguettes in a microwave oven!!!! Being the smart ass that I am i thought the heat would soften the bread so i put it on high heat and left it in the microwave oven to toast. When i came back from the toilet the microwave oven was smoking and i panicked! I stopped the thing and opened the door... My goodness, the smell was so horrible! The bread was burnt beyond repair and it was harder than ever so i threw it away. My landlady happened to be in and she rushed to the room to find out what happened. I opened the window and used the magazine to circulate the air within the room. My goodness.. the entire house smelled of charred baguettes... I was fanning the magazine throughout the day trying to get rid of the smell... That happened last week and i can still smell traces of the burnt smell.
More photos from Paris:
Your average typical fruit stand
As you can probably tell... I'm jet-lagged
My father likes to take unusually close shots
A typical meal in france consists of a main dish, a dessert, a soft drink and a coffee.
WAHAHAHAHHAA!!! YOU WILL ONLY SEE THIS HERE!!!
Its been a long day

Time for an update!
On sat i went out to my friend's hse and me and therese left quite late so when we reached there it was 11 and cold. a BIG no-no. We played cards and talked until 4 am which was when they decided to sleep. As i couldn't sleep i decided to revise my french. YES I AM THAT HARDWORKING.
So after a while i decided to switch off the light and try to sleep. Please keep in mind i was wearing jeans, shirt, sweater and my outer leather jacket and socks with a thick blanket pulled over me and i still felt so cold. Oh yes, i forgot to mention i was also wearing gloves and tt the hse had no heater... Well after 2 hrs drifting in and out of sleep, i couldn't take it anymore and ran, Yes, RAN towards the Metro as quick as i could and went home to take a hot shower and sleep in my own bed. My own landlady thought i was sick or something.. hahaha!! Obviously she didn't know i came back at 7+.
And that concludes the most horrendous experience I ever had here. Not including the noodles that i'm eating right now. Never buy ang moh instant noodles. Tastes like crap.
BRRRR

Shit that's cold.
Yeah, the weather is getting too damn cold. Outside its pretty bad cuz not only is the temp like shit, but the wind is damn fucking strong and we're all like grrrr.... My classmates n I went out to walk ard and it was sooo cold tt i started shivering. Also, on the way to sch i was eating an apple but it was SO COLD that my hands were shaking. Plus whenever i bit into the apple the juice flowed out and fell onto my fingers which made it even worse. My hands were stinging with the cold when i reached the sch even though the sch wasn't far. Less than 3mins out in the cold and my hands & face were so cold. Sigh... in s'pore complain hot, now come here, its too cold. I'M NEVER HAPPY. LOL. ok, starting to sound emo... back to what i was saying... ANYWAYS, the heater has officially been switched on! YAY!!! Never thought i'd be so happy saying that.
Alrighty i got my phone and my internet up but the internet doesn't allow skype so looks like i have to rely on the old connection again. But i've been going to class at 8.30a.m everyday like a good little girl and its tiring. Dunno why i can't sleep at night. I always sleep at 2a.m and when i reach sch i keep yawning. but on a happier note, i finally found carrefour and its HUGE! And its cheaper too... THANK GOODNESS. Luckily for me i can take the tram and its near to the hse. Well, actually its nt all that near but near enough. I saw several sales and i managed to resist!! A huge accomplishment!! Hahaha, well, class was tiring enough.
Today we had a new teacher and his name was matteau. Strange that i dun like him tt much. Well, we covered all the basics AGAIN, and when we were introducing ourselves AGAIN, he went round the room and when it came to me he cut me off!!! Then when he finished explaining the words and what it meant he went back to the other side of the room and i was last to intro. Also, when we were saying where we were from (countries), he made a face and shouted "UHHHHH" when some ppl mentioned their countries. For example, in french, everything is either a man or a female and for countries there are exceptions for example, Singapore, Taiwan, Cuba and so on have no proper term like a la or le so its just THAT. When I mentioned S'pore he made a face and said its Bizzare. I get that he was joking but i dun care. He's an insensitive prick who deserves a tight slap. He made a face when the other people mentioned other countries like taiwan, thailand and some others too. HE IS AN ASSHOLE. ASS. Out of all the classes, i like this the least. :( But other than tt everything else is fine.
So far i've met americans, Spaniards, chinese, taiwanese, Venezuelan, Brazilians, canadians, Thai, Koreans, japanese but NONE ARE SINGAPOREANS. CRAP. I think i might be the only singaporean there.... Well, i've yet to explore the other classes but judging by the looks of it i might be the only one from singapore. Ah well, what to do??
And finally, some pics!!
My room
Its pretty big
Welcome to the room with the best connection
And its near the river!
My pretty landlady!
I was bored....
Walking across the bridge

Ok, really tired now.... bye!

Now i have nothing to do... Its really boring and i have nothing else to do but to blog and post pics. Even that's hard because the internet here sucks. But now that i've found the perfect location to use the internet. Right now i've been watching movies frm my HD :)
Well, I started sch today and wow was it cold... I was a little late to get up but when i finally did i realized i was late and RAN to the sch. Thank goodness it was only nearby.. PHEW! And typical french style, being late didn't matter at all because by the time we went to class it was abt 9+ when we were supposed to start at 8.30.
And sch was a killer! Literally. My class was ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP. AHHH! As if it wasn't bad enough that my apartment lift was not working, i had to climb all the way to the top to reach the class... The teacher taught us in french, luckily i took some french if not i would have been completely lost... After introductions, we went ard the sch to familiarize ourselves with the place which meant MORE STEPS. So going here and going there, when we went back to class you could hear the whole room panting out loud cuz it was so tiring. Only the teacher looked fine.
Time passed by pretty quickly and i was hungry so me and this Swedish girl decided to go out for lunch nearby. While we were at the cafe, we saw this spanish girl who claimed to be sick and wanted to go home. When we saw her, she looked fine to me... *rolls eyes Whatever, her loss. And since we had time to spare we walked around and decided to see the church on the hill which meant, MORE WALKING. URGH... I'm getting pretty sick of steps.
And so for now i'm finally back home... tmr is another day of sch. AT 8.30AM!!!!!!
Finally!! Internet!!!
Sunday, October 11, 2009, 3:44 AM
Phew, finally managed to get good internet! Hopefully when i've installed my box/modem it'll get better and i can use it in my room.
Right now i have to use my laptop in the room opp mine and my landlady doesn't like me to switch on all the lights. Understandable but i'm not switching on EVERYTHING... its just 2 more lights. I guess its still a waste but its dark and i can hear people walking on the floor above me :(
Ok, lyon after a while i guess i can get used to it... though i miss s'pore food terribly. Nothing much to do here though. Its mostly shopping and i don't quite like to go out so late cuz the streets will be damn empty. Plus the internet here sucks as mentioned above, so NO PHOTOS yet.
Sch starts on the 12th and i start at 8.30a.m. GROAN! Waking up is the hardest thing to do... So far i've only managed to meet 1 friend and is this spanish girl called Cecilia. Its damn funny seeing us trying to converse with each other cuz her eng is so limited and we have to keep gesturing with our hands. She has said that i talk too fast for her so we'll see how it goes when we've had more practice with our french!!
I also went to milan with my father... more on that soon.
KK, gotta go now, i shall update more tmr cuz as usual, i'll be home the entire day. LYON IS BORING.
Feels weird
Thursday, October 1, 2009, 2:02 AM
I have the sudden urge to go home and drop everything. I really miss Singapore. The security, the places, the FRIENDS. I'm already sick of the food. Seriously. Everything and everyone here speaks french and i feel so excluded. If its in english and i can understand then that would be good. But everything here is so complicated. Thank goodness my father is with me or i think i would be lost and start crying non-stop.
Sigh, i guess it will take a while to get used to it. Meanwhile, i shall BEAR with it. ok bye.
