OK, today at work was like bloody exciting la...
Usually when people go to work they don't see the things that i see.
For example, I see...
1) Damn smelly otters
2)Tapirs
3)White Tigers
4) Elephants (when they take their morning walk around the zoo)
5) Manatees
6) Penguins
7) .....
Honestly, lets just leave it as i've seen alot of things. Not only that, but i was given a walkie so i also HEAR things....
I have a good story and a bad story... I shall start with the good story :D
GOOD:
I work in the ticketing booth when who should i see?? ALLAN WU!!!! hehehehe.... his kids are damn cute la... Sage is so big and his son jonas is CUTE. Although his head is like a rock on a stick... So anyway, they went into the wet play area where his kids went into the pool in their swimsuits. And what should a father do??? Remember the post about hot dads???
HE TOOK HIS SHIRT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But so sad....
WHA LAUUUUUUUU. I WAS IN THE BLOODY TICKETING BOOTH AND I SAW NOTHING! NOTHING I TELL YOU!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend gleefully told me this info while i was rotting away in the bloody claustrophobic room... I wanted to see so i told her i wanted to go toilet so that i could see also and she said TOO LATE.
DAMN.
Ok la, so the story isn't good but that's not the end of it... When he and his kids were done they came back out. Of course you can't leave the zoo without going on the carousel so he came up to ME and asked to buy a ticket!!!
He talked to ME :D
And yes, that was the good part.
I guess another good part was when i saw a bride and groom get on the carousel for some photo taking. The bride was damn pretty!! I felt so happy for them, hopefully they stay together forever...
Now for the bad part.
Let me tell you something i learnt about chimps. They are violent, violent monkeys. They are so much like us that its scary... I didn't even know they were omnivores...
From http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/mammals/chimpanzee.html :
"Chimps are generally fruit and plant eaters, but they also consume insects, eggs, and meat, including carrion."
And they also form groups... A scary thing i've read:
"Chimps live in loose communities which can number anywhere from 10 to over 100 individuals. The entire troop may never assemble all together, but they share a home range which is fiercely protected from intruders.
Did You Know?
- Chimpanzees use large sticks and branches as clubs or throw them at enemies like leopards and humans.
- Chimps supplement their diets with meat, such as young antelopes or goats. Their most frequent victims, however, are other primates such as young baboons, colobus monkeys and blue monkeys."

good monkeys...
ANYWAYS... What happened was that this parrot was brought out of its cage for dunno what reason. This bird's wings were not clipped and had a history of flying away. So i have NO idea why they wanted to bring it out again. Anyway, the bird(whose name is JJ) flew off and where did it land?? In the chimps enclosure. The keeper was anxious and ran after JJ. They tried to call the bird back to them but the stupid bird of course didn't fly back. It wasn't so bad because the chimps haven't even noticed JJ.
Until JJ cawed.
PANDEMONIUM!!!!!!!!!! The chimps went nuts and went after the bird. Don't take chimps lightly, they move at lightning speed and are much stronger than they look. They looked around and saw JJ on their territory. Not even the keepers enter the chimps enclosure until they are sure every chimp has been contained. You have no idea how dangerous they can get. They have accurate aim and they can throw anything at you so yes, i'm telling you now. BE CAREFUL.
Back to the story, the chimps saw the bird and what did they do?? They tore the bird apart with their hands. They were strangling, chewing & throwing JJ from one chimp to another. Not only that, but they swung JJ around by his wing, stomped on his body, hit it against a ROCK for goodness sakes. The worse part was the sounds of the attack. I was right opposite the enclosure i could hear it all. They were screaming and screaming. Those kind of i-found-a-toy-that-i can-rip-apart kind of scream.
oh dear, JJ's poor keeper was hysterical and screaming for back-up on the walkie. The chimp keepers didn't answer her until the 3rd call or something. By then the chimps were on a rampage. The boat crew had to usher guests away from the enclosure so as not to further aggrivate the chimps and the trams were so kaypoh. Stop to see. That was when the available keepers RAN towards the enclosure to distract the chimps but to no avail. They had to bring the chimps back into their cages before they could rescue JJ. His keeper was sobbing loudly. She had to be brought away and she was really screaming in pain and wailing.
By the time the chimps were all back in, they rushed the bird back to the lab to try to rescue him but the extent of his damages were quite bad. I think one of his wings was torn of by the chimps and when the chimps went back out, my friend saw one the chimps chewing on the wing. There was feathers and blood all over the place.... Ewww....
You have to understand that the chimps were doing what came natural to them. To them, this was a plaything. As cruel and as sadistic as it sounds, it is the truth. It was really sad... But thankfully, the zoo vets managed to rescue the bird and he survived! Hopefully he can get better.
Here's to his speedy recovery!
