Hello world, its more zoo time now
Sunday, September 28, 2008, 11:08 PM
Well, what's there to say except that i feel tired.. real tired so i'll just let the slide show explain it all. Besides, what life do i have other than my work?? LOL.
Other than the slide show, i'll highlight some parts of work that were interesting.
One thing that i had to do was to work from 9am to 10.30pm for a movie screening called Sing to the Dawn. I had to be one of the ushers in the park. SO i had to stand around the slope near some monkeys and guide people to the toilet. The movie started at 7.30pm but i was there frm 6 onwards... So i had a poncho and a powerful torchlight on me....
From the place where i was standing, the amphitheater was to my left while the toilet was behind. Not too bad considering there was some lamps around so that when it was dark, i really didn't need to use the torchlight but because i was bored i used it anyways. I shined it onto everything. And i do mean everything.
Things i used the torchlight on:
1. My face
2. The floor
3. Ants
4. Bats
5. My slippers
6. Grass
7. Trees
8. Monkeys(in the exhibit near to me, and NOT in their eyes... PLEASE LOR, dun take me for a fool!)
9.The ground
10. Gnats (I was trying to find them...)
11. Mosquitoes (it doesn't work if your trying to chase them away)
12. Other People...
The list goes on but its pretty uninteresting unless you count using the torch like a light saber to re-enact a play when no one was looking..... Yeah, quite dorky.
Another list that i have are: Things that I hated while i was there:
#1-Mosquitoes. They are the killers because they bite you anywhere and everywhere... Stupid little bastards....
#2-Gnats. These swarm of small tiny insects are capable of driving anyone insane. Just try walking into a cloud of this and try getting rid of it... i took a grand total of 15mins to get rid of these damn pests!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGH.
#3-My uniform. The place is a ZOO. Its hot and when its hot, people tend to SWEAT. Plus its not a good idea to wear pants a size too big. My pants kept falling and worse... i have this flap of cloth covering half my pants and i kept tripping on that... As if tt wasn't bad enough, i almost fell on a peacock because of that stupid flap.... UUUURRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH.
Then i had a break where i could sip water and relax... I was supposed to get back to the other place when my supervisor had other plans and posted me to this creepy site....
This was my only source of light... Imagine the rest of my surroundings totally pitch black.
The road to safety is a long one!
That was pretty much my surroundings. Pitch black except for a few lights here and there. CREEPY. Also, there wasn't much to do except to greet the guest by saying goodbye and waving them goodnight. Things started getting worse when most of the guest had left...
Well, after the semi-last person had left, i was left standing at my spot. In the darkness, all alone with only the sounds of the forest accompanying me... well? What was i to do? I sang some songs to myself and when i started getting panicky, i repeated this mantra which totally works! I said to myself out loud:" there is nothing there, you believe that there is nothing there". I said that 50 or 80 times before i managed to calm down until A GODDAMN BAT FLEW RIGHT PAST MY FACE. On top of all the mosquito bites, the gnats, the terrifying darkness and not forgetting that i was ALL ALONE, that STUUUPID FURRY LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT HAD TO ATTACK ME... Well, i'm exaggerating but it felt like that!!!!!!!
Thank goodness i saw my colleagues coming out with their torches or I would have fainted right on the spot... And i managed to calm myself down before i could scream like a banshee...
As for today.... I had training at the Zoo for Kidzworld. So today we basically roleplayed the different scenarios that could happen while we worked there... After a good lunch of spaghetti and chicken balls... (LOL, and its real, it just sounds funny), We went to kidzworld using the unopened ferry!
FERRY from the inside
Looking at the picture makes me feel dizzy. When i was on the boat i felt really dizzy. Some people said it was a form of sea sickness... BLEAH. So we took the boat where the boat crew practiced on us their commentary... I feel the wave of dizzyness coming over me again so i'll finish this quick.
We traveled through the seletar reservoir where the view was spectacular...
My work team and me!!!
When we were done with the training for the day, our supervisor took us for a treat at the night safari! We had chicken wings and fries at Bongo Burger before we went to see the night show at 8.30pm... Of course as members of the zoo team we were allowed free entry to EVERYTHING!!!! Hehehee... a great perk to joining the zoo... Also i got the best of all the perks. With the badge... Get ready, All right, are you guys sitting?????
I GET A 30% DISCOUNT FOR BEN & JERRY'S!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys might say, oh so what?!?!? It's not much. But think about this... You would have to pay $4.50 for 1 scoop of ice-cream, while i pay $2.90+ for mine... To me, this is BIG. Hahahaha!! Imma fatty yes i know...
There are of course more perks that come with the badge but i will keep it my little secret... After all, i wouldn't want people to come and pester me for stuff now do i??? :D
